Radon is an invisible and odorless gas that comes from the ground. It can enter buildings and sometimes build up to high levels. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.
You will learn about the radon levels in your workplace. Testing for radon is the only way to know how much radon is present. Eligible participants will receive free radon testing for their workplaces.
We don’t know a lot about radon levels in Ontario workplaces. Most research has been done in homes or mines. Join our study to help expand our knowledge of radon!
We are looking for:
Fill out this survey to see if your workplace is eligible to participate in our study.
To participate, you will need to fill out our eligibility survey. If your business is eligible, one or more radon detectors will be placed in your workplace during the wintertime for three months. After three months the detector will be retrieved, and you will be asked to fill out a second survey and answer questions about your building (e.g., age of the building, type of heating system). The detector will be shipped to a lab and analyzed, and you will receive your radon results a few months later. We will also share the overall study results with you when the study is complete. We will not identify you, your business, or any other participants when we share these results.
