Project Advisory Committee

Purpose

A project advisory committee (PAC) is formed to bring together a group of individuals, with unique knowledge and skills, to provide advice and guidance for the research study. This will include reviewing study documents and protocols, recruitment and knowledge translation strategies, and materials developed to disseminate the results to stakeholders.

Members

The PAC consists of ten members representing different stakeholder groups. This includes representatives from the Sikh community, union and employer representatives, as well as representatives from the health and safety community. The members include:

  • Barry Lam –  Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)
  • Blair Allin –  International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Canada
  • Cristina St. Pierre  –  Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD)
  • Jackie Sam  –  Public Services Health and Safety Association (PSHSA)
  • Dr. Manisha Pahwa  –  McGill University, School of Physical and Occupational Therapy
  • Dr. Mohanpal Singh Dulai  –  University of Toronto, Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology
  • Richard Chung  –  Workplace Health and Safety Center (WHSC)
  • Sharanjeet Kaur  –  World Sikh Organization (WSO)
  • Dr. Seema Sharma  –  St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
  • Dr. Victoria Arrandale  –  University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health

Meetings

Virtual committee meetings will be held during the study.

  • MEETING 1 (October 4th, 2024): The study questionnaire, recruitment strategies, recruitment materials, and study methodology were reviewed and discussed.
  • MEETING 2 (TBD): The purpose will be to review preliminary findings, discuss challenges that occurred during first year of testing, and discuss potential knowledge translation products.
  • MEETING 3 (TBD): The purpose will be to review study conclusions and recommendations and obtain feedback on knowledge translation products (e.g., draft messages, lay language summaries) and the knowledge translation and exchange dissemination plan.
