Researchers at the University of Toronto have developed a new platform for monitoring air pollution called AirSENCE. The project is still in the prototype phase, but for the duration of the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, air quality data will be available on the website www.airsensors.ca.
The website shows the air quality health index, and estimated concentrations of a number of air pollutants at sites across Toronto. The tool also allows users to compare air quality between sites, as well as compare data collected by AirSENCE with air quality readings from the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
