The International Agency for Research on Cancer a specialized agency of the World Health Organization. IARC promotes international collaboration in cancer research to identify the causes of cancer, so that preventive measures may be adopted and the burden of disease reduced. The IARC Monographs Program is a core element of the Agency’s activities, with international expert working groups evaluating the evidence of the carcinogenicity of specific exposures. IARC also studies approaches for the early detection of cancer and evaluates prevention strategies.
