Rivka completed her Masters of Public Health with a specialization in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto. She first became concerned about industrial exposures while learning about impacts of oil sands development in northern Alberta and advocating for the Alberta Government to address the health concerns of the residents of Fort Chipewyan, a first nation community located downstream from the oil sands. Rivka is interested in intervention research projects and their tremendous potential to improve the lives of Ontario’s workers. She first joined the OCRC as a student interested in knowledge transfer and exchange in occupational cancer research. Rivka is currently working on Completing the Picture, a study exploring the feasibility of the systematic collection of workplace hazard exposure information from workers at Ontario health centres. She is also working on Sun Safety at Work Canada, a project designed to develop a Canada-wide workplace-based sun safety program for outdoor workers.
