Occupational exposure limits: results of the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s 2013 and 2014 OEL consultations

Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) are legal or recommended maximum allowable concentrations of a hazardous substance in a workplace. They restrict both the amount of substance and length of time a worker can be exposed.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour’s annual OEL update process includes a public consultation in which stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the proposed changes. The consultation on proposed changes to the OELs and/or listings for substances set out in the 2013 and 2014 consultation documents is now complete. Effective July 1, 2015, changes based on these proposals will come into effect. To view the updated regulations, click here.
